Details

Result Chair features a thin steel-sheet base with an oak seat and backrest. It is designed for flexibility, lightness, and strength. Originally created by storied Danish designers Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld in the 1950s, the cutout steel collection has been relaunched by HAY together with the original brand Ahrend. The waterfall seat edge ensures lasting comfort by reducing pressure on the backs of sitters’ thighs, and is upholstered for additional comfort.

Wim Rietveld

Known for his rationalist approach to functional chairs, tables, and storage systems, designer Wim Rietveld is the equally talented offspring of Dutch trailblazer Gerrit Rietveld. His oeuvre of iconic works include the award-winning 1407 Chair (1953/54), the Result Chair (1958), and the Pyramid Tables and Chairs (1960), as well as the industrial feats of agricultural machinery, boats, and trains.

Friso Kramer

After graduating in Interior Design from the Institute of Applied Arts in Amsterdam, Friso Kramer worked as a designer from 1948–1963 at De Cirkel, a manufacturer of steel furniture. As his furniture – most notably the Revolt Chair he co-designed with Wim Rietveld – gained in popularity across homes and public spaces, Kramer became one of the preeminent names in modern Dutch design.
