One of the greatest Danish designers of the twentieth century, Børge Mogensen's works are characterized by simplicity, durability, and precise proportions – the embodiment of Danish modernism. Having initially trained as a cabinetmaker before studying furniture design at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts, Mogensen then studied architecture at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He later became design director at the Danish Co-Operative Society, FDB, where he focused on creating well-designed, functional furniture that could be industrially produced for the general public. HAY has recreated Børge Mogensen’s timeless J41 and J42 chairs, which were part of the J-Series he designed during his time at FBD.
