Born in Bourdeaux, France and based in Milan, painter and designer Nathalie Du Pasquier is known one of the founding members of the influential Memphis Design group set up by designer and architect Ettore Sottsass in 1981. Her early work for Memphis is notable for its vibrant use of color and arresting use of pattern. Alongside her two-dimensional designs, she created a range of jewelry, furniture, textiles, and clothing for Memphis, before solely dedicating herself to painting from 1987 onwards. All her work has been internationally exhibited. An intuitive self-taught artist of high standing, her work has recently been exposed to a whole new generation, who are rediscovering her fine use of color, abstract constructions, and impossible structures.
